Travel Begins
I’m traveling an insane amount in February, starting right on the first day of the month.  I get to spend the rest of this week in California for work (read: escaping all the snow and ice), then I head to Utah (read: to make sure I get enough of all the snow and ice I will have missed) for a ski vacation.  The remainder of the month include east coast jaunts to Virginia, and Vermont.  ...

Work is about to get VERY busy
We had 2 people turn in resignations this week, and 2 more start maternity leave over the next few weeks.  The whole team is only 9 people (managers included!), so losing 4 is going to be rough to say the least.  I have a ski trip planned in two weeks… I’m not sure whether I should rejoice that I get to be away from the craziness right as it starts, or seriously dreading what...

“Just last week, a sophomore at Florida State University, Ashley Cowie, was shot...”
– BOB HERBERT, in today’s New York Times. First and foremost, I’m incredibly sorry for the friends and family of Ashley Cowie and their loss. It was a tragic accident. And now, I’d like to give my stance on guns and gun control and all that jazz. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. Just...

tanya77: winstonwolfe: Arizona residents are locking arms to stop the Westboro Baptist Church from disrupting the funerals for victims of Saturday’s shooting in Tucson, with bikers and others organizing a massive counter-protest and state lawmakers fast-tracking a bill to hamstring the group. “It makes me sick to my stomach,” said Glen Littell, who’s bringing a pack of bikers from the...

Lesson for Today:
**Do not tip your chair back on two legs** I fell over this morning, dumping tea and cereal all over the room (and myself) and earned a nice bump on my head too.  These are the days I’m really happy I work from home.  No embarrassment.  Okay, minimal embarrassment.  I am after all, documenting the occasion here.

Unpopular Pronunciation of the Day
joyengel: everydayk: I say Aunt like AW-NT. That’s how people from Maine (and most of New England) say it. Because AU makes a AW sound. Ants crawl on the ground. What. Up. An ant is an insect. An Aw-nt is a person. Preach. Thank you!  I lived many years in the South and always got weird looks when I didn’t call my parents’ sisters insects.
