New Years Goals

I don’t do New Years Resolutions.  I refuse to resolve to do something when I know there’s a 90% chance it will last no longer than a week.  Goals, however, imply that at some point during the year, I will do something.  Which means I can procrastinate and do nothing for the first few weeks of the year and still succeed.

So, onto the goals:

  1. Travel somewhere new.  See something interesting.  Be in a situation where I don’t understand the language or culture.  Meet new people.  Broaden my horizons.
  2. Educate myself.  Take a class of some sort…  any sort, be it language, management, economics, basket weaving, or something else.  Just make sure I’m still growing.
  3. Read at least 1 book each month.  Let my imagination run wild.  Be engrossed by characters and plot-lines.
  4. Do something creative each month.  Make clever gifts.  Build something with Dad.  Go on a random adventure.  De-clutter and re-decorate.
  5. Bring back monthly Game Night.  Laugh with friends.  Get loud and boisterous.  Lose some.  (Win more.)  Revel in the happiness these nights create.
  6. Eat out less.  Have organic foods delivered.  Attempt new recipes.  Try new foods.  Share my meals with others.
  7. Volunteer.  Give something back.  Make someone else’s life easier/happier.  Be a more giving person.

Tonight has been a lively continuation of last night. *Someone* passed out on the couch a bit too early tonight and has ended up with a snowball melting on him. … a very literal alternate meaning of the term “snowballs.”
